Sol’s Story

Sol

white sheep

Sol, meaning sun in Spanish, was born in March 2007 along with two siblings, Moon and Noche. Their mother Chrysanthemum did the whole delivery without my assistance. One morning I walked in the barn and there was a new family!
Chrysanthemum was a wonderful mother. She would lead her lambs around proudly and call to them if they wandered too far. They would even take turns sleeping on her back as she napped in the sun.

Sol now grows very soft, bright fiber. She grows a hefty fleece each year weighing around 8 pounds. Wensleydales are known for their long, curly locks and Sol is a great example of the breed.

Sol is one of the most beautiful sheep in the flock. She has the sweetest face which suits her sweet personality. She likes a soft scratch on her chest and her favorite treat is cabbage.

I often see Sol near her mother even now. Watching these babies grow up I can see the deep bond between families. After this experience I could never sell them off or separate them.

Plum Blossom Farm is unique because all of the animals have a forever home here. Unlike other sheep farms, no animals are ever sold off to slaughter when they are done being “useful”. All our sheep are sweet individuals and each one is like a family member to us. Thanks so much for supporting this compassionate small farm!
