Rising Costs
This time of year I take a look at my numbers and see how things are panning out. I haven’t raised prices of my soaps in 5 years, but my costs have gone up. So unfortunately I have to pass a little of that along and raise my prices by a dollar this year. This ensures that I can afford to buy hay for my sheep, which in turn, grow wool for the soaps. Thank you for your understanding.

I am so appreciative of Mary Jo Winter and the Press Democrat for their article in today’s newspaper:

Interview with Humble & Grand
Erin and Lauren at Humble and Grand started carrying my dryer balls recently. They flattered me by featuring me in their monthly Artist Profile. Check out the interview on their blog.
New Scarves
This year I am planning to make my wool lock scarves lighter and shorter. I was wearing a collar style, wool lock scarf to fairs. I was wearing that one because I had messed up on one of my longer scarves and I made that one work. But customers were always complimenting the scarf I was wearing and asking if I had more of them. So this season I’m giving the people what they want. Look for them at coming fairs and email me if you are interested. Each one is unique and so very special!

Getting more out of Instagram
For those of you who haven’t gotten into Instagram yet I would encourage you to do so. Maybe it’s my interests or who I chose to follow, but Instagram is by far the most positive avenue of social media I have found. I think because it is based on images and people love beauty there are so many stunning photos running through. And even the understated photos are usually showing something personal and meaningful. It seems like a much more supportive atmosphere as well by the comments and likes I see.
I try to post pictures every few days from either around the farm or around Sonoma County. That’s when I scroll through what everyone else is up to. There are some very talented amateur photographers that can take surprisingly elegant photos with their phones.
Here are a few of my favorites:

DIY Pinterest
Pinterest is a fun format to find all sorts of visual goodies. One fun topic I have found with plenty of boards to check out is DIY or do-it-yourself.
I have started my own diy board. I have collected a number of wooly, farming and bath product tutorials. It’s so much fun to hunt around searching through all the clever projects people come up with. Check out my diy board here. And then start your own to put away ideas for things to do on the many cozy winter days ahead!
Humboldt Bound!
Heading to Arcata, CA this weekend for the annual North Country Fair on the plaza. I have attended this fair for several years as a spectator but this will be my first year as a vendor. I have missed the event the past few yearly sadly and so am extra excited to go this time!
This fair is always a big deal and the residents come out to listen to music, peruse stalls and watch the vibrant parades. The Samba Parade is at 1:00 on Saturday and the All Species Parade is 1:00 on Sunday. The North Country Fair embodies what is special about the north coast and is full of individuals who march, dance, hop and stomp to their own beat.
If you plan to be in the area I’d love to see you! I will be in booth 62 on the Northeast corner of the plaza, across from Jitter Bean. I scored a corner booth in a prominent spot. I am looking forward to a fun-filled weekend! Long live Arcata!
